I found two tumblr app actions on the Drafts app blog: Quote and Text. So I thought I’d create my own action for links. All you have to do is write the title and description while keeping the URL in the clipboard.

It worked!

Drafts for iOS has some killer tumblr actions

Write your quote or text in Drafts. Tap share and then tap either “Text” or “Quote.” Drafts then launches tumblr with your text in the selected post type. Then tap “Post” and tumblr automatically returns you to Drafts. Pretty cool!

Analyzing share of time spent on social networking sites in December 2012, comScore reveals that while Facebook dominated at 83% share, Tumblr occupied the second spot (5.7%), more than Pinterest (1.9%), Twitter (1.7%), and LinkedIn (1.4%) combined, and almost as much as the aggregate of all other social networks (6.1%).

18-29-year-olds more than twice as likely as the average internet user to use Tumblr (13% vs. 6%).

I’m spending more time on tumblr these days.

My iOS tumblr posting tools

  1. Pastebot — Command Copy & Paste by Tapbots
  2. Reeder by Silvio Rizzi

Pastebot allows me to copy text, links and titles without leaving my RSS reader of choice, Reeder.

Tap and hold adds a lot of functionality. This app is one of my favorite social media networks and my blogging engine of choice.

Tumblr Question

How do you respond to Tumblr comments? Do you have to reblog to comment? Can you do it on a mobile phone?

I’m having trouble interacting.

The New Tumblr iOS App

Overall, the updated Tumblr app is a pleasure to use. Let’s see how markdown works.

  • it’s fast
  • offline interactions
  • gesture support

Where’s the preview option? Was that ever an option?

Update: markdown is still flacky and inconsistent.
