Markdown started as a clever way to write for the web but has become so much more. This book demystifies Markdown, making it easy for anybody to learn. This book includes 130 pages and 27 screencasts totaling more than one and a half hours of video. There is also an additional hour of audio interviews. This book will take you from zero knowledge of Markdown to being a Markdown pro and change the way you write for the better.

I’m looking forward to reading this book.

P.S. I used markdown to write this post. ;-)

Apple tightly controls its software and hardware, and is fiercely competitive in battling its rivals, especially in the mobile market. And yet, while the company never creates apps for anyone else’s mobile system or device, each of its major mobile-platform foes—Google, Amazon and Microsoft—make many of their apps available for Apple devices. That makes those devices the sort of Switzerlands of the mobile world.

If you buy an iPhone or iPad, you get Apple-written mobile apps and services like Siri, iMessage, iWork, iPhoto and FaceTime, which aren’t available on other phones and tablets. But you can get first-class versions of competitors’ official apps.

Apple - iPad - TV Ad - Together

Another great demonstration.

Apple - iPad - TV Ad - Alive

Nice demonstration.

Here’s the tip that’ll make my web browsing better on iOS devices.

Open webpages in the background. Safari on the Mac makes it easy to open linked webpages in a new tab, so that you needn’t interrupt what you’re reading just because you also want to check out a few linked items. You get that same perk on iOS—though you need to enable it first. Visit Settings > Safari > Open Links and choose the In Background option. Now, tap and hold on links in Safari to choose to open them in the background instead.

Overall, some great tips from Macworld.

If you have a toddler and an iPad, get this case.

The Walking Dead Comics

Last week I went all in with The Walking Dead. I purchased the three special omnibus volumes, with 99 issues, only available for a limited time leading up to the below 100th issue.

I became a fan after watching the first season of the series on AMC. The TV show drew me to the comics. I was happy to find the comics are really different from the TV show that spawned from them.

I highly recommend the original comics and the TV series.

I have trouble sleeping every night I read an issue or watch an episode. Great stuff.

THE WALKING DEAD ISSUE #100

Publisher:Image-Skybound

‘SOMETHING TO FEAR’ CONTINUES! This extra-sized chapter contains one of the darkest moments in Rick Grimes’ life, and one of the most violent and brutal things to happen within the pages of this series. 100 issues later, this series remains just as relentless as the debut issue. Do not miss the monumental 100th issue of THE WALKING DEAD!

Blogsy

As I’m testing iOS 6 beta, my go to Tumblr app, Writing Kit, isn’t working. I knew going in many apps wouldn’t work.

I’m using Blogsy to write this. I’m pretty impressed with the integrated social services: Flickr, YouTube, Instagram and Vimeo. It’s also really simple to search Google and launch Safari.

Markdown is an option, which I’ll turn on as default. It’s how I format online content.

Blogsy provides a ton of formatting options as well. Everything you’d expect is here. I’m impressed.
